Maven - package org.junit does not exist even though dependency added

Solution

Wrong junit, you need version 4 for annotations. Change the dependency to:

<dependency>
    <groupId>junit</groupId>
    <artifactId>junit</artifactId>
    <version>4.11</version>
</dependency>
