Subclass a UITextField and detect when it becomes or resigns first responder

Solution

Just override becomeFirstResponder to call your method. Something like,

    - (BOOL)becomeFirstResponder
    {
        BOOL returnValue = [super becomeFirstResponder];
        if (returnValue) {
            [self method];
        }
        return returnValue;
    }
